Final Sale Day

The response to the Crafting for Courage sale has been phenomenal. It's heartwarming to feel the love and support that all of you have offered to the people of Japan during this terrible crisis. You have donated handcrafted goodies to the sale, purchased lovingly handmade items, and spread the word about this fundraiser. Each of the individual contributions has been magnified by this collective support.

On this last day of the fundraiser, I have two more Crafting for Courage bunnies (a momma-and-baby duo) for sale in my Etsy shop. I have also created a pdf pattern for you to make your very own Crafting for Courage bunny. They are really wanting to multiply faster than my hands can make them!

All of the proceeds from the sale of the bunnies and the pdf will be donated to Save the Children's Earthquake Tsunami Relief Fund.

Thank you once again for your support!

Stack of Linens

This is a lovely stack of linens that can be used in a multitude of ways. The largest piece in this collection is a long piece of antique linen that is perfect for dyeing, sewing or stitching. It measures 19" x 95." (or 48cm x 242cm) over 2.5 yards long.
It is the same antique linen fabric (un-dyed) used in the turquoise scarf pictured here.

In addition, there are tray cloths and table mats, lace edged napkins and embroidered pieces too (10 additional pieces in all making 11 total.)

Here are two examples of how I like to use vintage and antique linens, hanging sachets and decorative pillows.
More details about this stack in my Etsy shop.

Beauty, Peace, Hope

Zencrafting Bunnies

In the Japanese zodiac, 2011 is the Year of the Rabbit (usagi). People born in this year, and every twelve years before and after, are Rabbit People. They are considered "quietly charismatic," reserved, and cautious. The Rabbit is one of happiest animals of the zodiac.

This hand-sewn Blue Bunny is made from felted wool sweater scraps. His button eyes and floppy ears give him an air of wisdom. He is filled with Coopworth Sheep wool roving from Deer Run Sheep Farm in Franklin, West Virginia. He is soft to the touch, but with a solidness that makes him very huggable.

Purple Bunny is unbelievably soft, made from a felted wool sweater that is an angora blend. He is machine sewn and has a pompom tail almost as big as his head. He is also filled Deer Run Sheep Farm's wool roving.

Green Bunny carries a bit of spring wherever she goes. She is hand-embroidered and hand-sewn and is filled with wool roving from Deer Run Sheep Farm.

The Crafting for Courage bunnies can be purchased at the zencrafting Etsy shop.

***Please note that the first three bunnies hopped out of the shop this morning (Thursday). Thank you so much to the purchasers for your support of Crafting for Courage, and for the people of Japan. I will be posting a limited number of bunnies as fast as my tired hands can stitch them, so please stop back in the shop throughout the sale. It runs through Monday, March 28.

Arigato gozaimashita!

Shield Necklace

This small copper shield has been pierced several times, torch-fired, and fused with vitreous enamel. The pendant is a moody deep sea green and I have accented the edges in burnt orange. The back has been counter-enameled for strength. The edges are brush-polished so the copper shines through and the pinned bail is hammered and forged copper, as is the tiny dropped disc accent. The copper ball chain measures 18" and the pendant measures approximately 3/4".
This piece will be available in my Etsy shop - silverwork - beginning March 24.
